City Kids Outdoors at Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake is designated as Close to Home fishing waters under a cooperative program between the City of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Crystal Lake has a large fishing dock, which is accessible to persons using wheelchairs/mobility devices, and a concrete boat ramp. Fishing education programs can be coordinated through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Individuals with a state and city license may fish on the property.
City Care partners with schools and children’s groups to educate the city’s youth and foster an appreciation for the outdoors. There are large areas suitable for outdoor games (inflatable, tug-of-war, etc.) that can be used for group events. Crystal Lake is also available to groups for private events and the property is maintained in a user-ready condition. All fees provide a portion of the funds needed for on-going operations and maintenance.
City Kids Outdoors summer camp provides more than a hundred inner-city children with fun filled week-long day camps while receiving quality instruction and exposure to various disciplines in sports and outdoor education. City Kids Outdoors Summer Camp is held three weeks in June and includes fishing, canoeing hiking, archery and more.
